From Passion to Purpose: My Journey in Cybersecurity
I am Tala Zein. If I had to describe myself in one phrase, it would be: "passionate about security". This passion has been my motive, guiding me ever since I can remember. But the path wasn't always straightforward.
When it was time for me to pursue my education, I found myself at a crossroads. While I was eager to dive deep into cybersecurity, my university didn’t offer it as a major. Rather than opting for engineering, which wasn't where my heart wants, I chose to major in Information Technology Management. It might seem like a tangential choice to many, but for me, it provided a holistic foundation to understand how systems and businesses operate, and where security fits into the grand scheme of things.
From the early stages of my career, I was fortunate enough to work in the field of cybersecurity. While this experience was enriching and cemented my love for the domain, I couldn't help but notice a gap in knowledge. Many people, both inside and outside the technology industry, had significant misconceptions about cybersecurity.
Yet, for the longest time, I didn’t have any motive to do anything about it. That all changed when I became a mother. The birth of my child not only transformed my personal life but also reshaped my professional vision. I realized that in this digital age, everyone, including my child, is at risk if they're not equipped with the right knowledge about security. My drive to educate and protect grew stronger with each passing day.
With this newfound motivation, I embarked on a new project: starting an Instagram page dedicated to cybersecurity awareness to parents. Through this platform, I aim to bridge the knowledge gap, helping individuals understand the significance of cybersecurity and how they can protect themselves in the digital realm.
It's only been a month since I ventured into the world of social media, and the journey so far has been incredible. The positive feedback, the engaging discussions, and the curiosity of my followers have only intensified my commitment to this cause. And I am on the brink of launching my very first workshop!

From choosing a major that wasn’t directly linked to my passion to becoming a voice on social media for cybersecurity, I've navigated through various challenges and choices.
